North Stars Represent Ontario at the Brogden Cup

Lauren Radbourne, Kariya Beach and Reese Wilkins participated at the Brogden Cup in Jacksonville, Florida December 27-29. Lyndsay Brooks and Kelly Wilkins (co-U19 coaches in Owen Sound this coming season) were both assistant coaches for Team Ontario U17. In the second year that the girls team has been invited to take part in the Brogden Cup, the Team Ontario U17 Girls Field and U19 Boys Field teams swept the USA National Championship teams. The girls defeated team USA 13-3, 15-6 and 15-3. Kariya Beach scored a goal in the second game. Radbourne and Wilkins both played defence. It was an awesome experience to be part of this team as a player or a coach. The girls dominated team USA out scoring them 43-12 leading the scoring at all times in all games.

Field Lacrosse - Where Girls Play Outside the Box!

Field lacrosse is becoming a rapidly growing and popular sport for area girls. Different than box lacrosse, field lacrosse is played outdoors on a football or soccer sized field. Girl’s field lacrosse provides an excellent place for the girls in our community to develop skills, build friendships, be active and enjoy the outdoors.

Appealing to many is that girl’s field lacrosse is a non-contact sport, and that aside from a special field lacrosse stick and mouth guard, the equipment required to get into the sport is limited.

Our local girl’s field lacrosse association has over 100 players from beginner up to the senior women’s team. The association has been able to grow as a result of our sponsors and many dedicated coaches and volunteers.

Congratulations U11's on your 2016 A Division Silver Medal!
